Abstract: Blood transfusion is an essential replacement therapy which many patients benefit from during various medical and surgical pathologies. However, transfusion therapy is associated with complications including the risk of iron deficiency anemia to blood donors in whom the pre-donation haemoglobin dosage is an important parameter of transfusion safety. This study therefore aims to determine the prevalence of anemia among blood donors at Côte d’Ivoire National Blood Transfusion Center. This prospective cross-sectional study took place from September 01 to October 31, 2015 at Abidjan National Blood Transfusion Center in Côte d’Ivoire and concerned 50 samples of regular blood donors excluded solely because of anemia out of a total of 1200 regular donors. After the consultation te excluded donor is then taken on an EDTA tube to perform an haemogram on an automated device and from a dry tube which will be used for the determination of ferritinemia. Statistical analyzes were carried out using Epi Info 6.04, Excel and the Chi-square test. The prevalence of anemia to our blood donor was 3.85%. The Hb level was significantly lower to women than men (p = 0.048) and more frequent anemia beyond 10 donations. The anemia was hypochromic microcytic to 31 donors (62%), hypochromic normocytic to 2 donors (4%), normochromic normocytic to 17 donors (34%). Martial assessment was performed to 31 donors and ferritin was lowered to 22 donors indicating the absence of an iron reserve. The prevalence of anemia to Côte d’Ivoire blood donors is 3.85%. Anemia to regular blood donors is mainly due to an iron deficiency. This deficiency is correlated with sex and the number of donations. Iron IV has been shown to be more effective than oral iron in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in blood donors.

Abstract: This study is to explore the expression differences of vimentin in the normal spinal cord tissues and the injured spinal cord tissues. The 15 SD rats were randomly divided into two experimental groups and sham group. Acute spinal cord injury models in experimental groups were performed with Lisa method and the injured spinal cord was collected after getting injured 72h. The method of immunohistochemical stain was applied to observe the expressions of vimentin in the normal spinal cord tissue and the injured spinal cord tissue of rats. The results showed the expression of vimentin was found in both the grey matter and white matter of the spinal cord of rats with a relatively even distribution. In addition, the protein expressions of vimentin in the medium injury group and the severe injury group were obviously higher than the sham group. In conclusion, expressions of vimentin were found in the spinal cord, and expression differences were observed after the spinal cord injury, which indicated that vimentin might play a part in the injured process of the spinal cord. It is poised to be a phase of advancement in the treatment of acute spinal cord injury and the importance of further elucidation of underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of vimentin.

Abstract: Background: the resistance of enterobacteriaceae to antibiotics is experiencing a worrying worldwide development with an increasing impact of β-lactamases. Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the bacteria responsible for nosocomial infections. Hence the need to look for these enzymes in the hospitals of the Littoral region, Cameroon. Method: cross-sectional and descriptive study during 2016 and early 2017, isolates of intermediate sensitivity or resistant to third generation cephalosporins (C3G) collected in the laboratories of the Littoral referral hospitals and in Diagmed laboratory. Confirmation of the strains made by the API 20E™ gallery, the study of antibiotic sensitivity by the method of diffusion of discs on agar (Mueller Hinton). The double synergy test for the search of extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL), and confirmation by the Eurobio ™ kit (France). Results: a total of 412 strains of klebsiellasp (species) were isolated and 122 Klebsiella pneumoniae included. The majority age group is that ≤1 year with 26.0%, the germs were isolated in the urine at 54.6% and in neonatology and pediatrics at 35.8%. Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumoniae identified at 82.4%. The production of BLSE was 86.9%, against that of AmpC at 3.30%. The sensitivity to imipenem and amikacin was 96.2% and 98.1%, respectively. Conclusion: the study shows a high frequency of ESBL and a low presence of ampC in the Littoral region, Cameroon; practitioners must make a rational prescription from a correctly performed antibiogram.

Abstract: To study the practical effect of nursing fixed post and manoeuvrable post combined management mode in outpatient blood collection room. The construction process of joint management mode of fixed post and manoeuvrable post of nurses in blood collection room was introduced, including qualification examination, training, quality control, salary management and satisfaction evaluation of nurses in blood collection room, and the application effect compared before and after implementation. The waiting time for blood collection was reduced by 15.73 min during the peak period of blood collection in the outpatient blood collection room, and the satisfaction of patients with the service evaluation was significantly increased (P < 0.01). Labor cost was reduced by 1.37 fixed positions while nurses’ working enthusiasm was enhanced. The combined management mode of nursing fixed post and manoeuvrable post can shorten the waiting time for blood collection in the outpatient blood collection room during peak hours, improve patient satisfaction and save an power.
